What is thermal solar energy?
A solar thermal system is equipments used to provide hot water with the energy of sun. The main aim is to use sun power and reduce energy costs of homes and companies like hotels, restaurants, hospitals, gymnasiums etc.

What are the differences between thermal solar and photovoltaics?
Both of them utilize the energy from the sun, and sure for free. Solar thermal systems generates hot water with the radiation of the sun. Photovoltaic systems produce electric energy. The main advantage of the solar thermal systems are their efficiency. A solar thermal system can heat water faster and needs quite less investments to utilize.

How does the solar energy converted to heat?
Radiation which hits the absorber is transformed to the heat in the absorber surface. In the same while, the vacuum area or retro reflective surfaces blocks the solar energy not to reflect back to the atmosphere. The last layers of the collectors made of special glass which protects the equipments and maximize the solar absorbency. The solar sourced heat produced with these equipment is transferred to the water by circulating water inside the tubes.

What are the components of a thermal solar system?
A basic solar thermal system consists of collector, boiler, support frame and connection parts.
More advanced systems, which mostly used on companies also includes some extra parts explained below.

* Collector
The part which collects the solar energy and transforms it in to heat energy.

* Boiler
The storage tank which used to stock hot water.

* Feeding Tank
A primary tank which used to balance the cold water inlet to the system. This is used only in non-pressurized systems.

* Solar Pump
An automated pump which used to circulate the hot water which circulates inside the group of collectors. This is driven by the control unit.

* Sensors
The electronic components which indicates the heat level of the water to the control unit.

* Control Unit
The microprocessor controlled electronic unit which collects several information's from sensors. Like; The heat of the water, pressure of the main line and the circulation line, status of the pumps and boilers etc. Control unit collects these and many information's , process them and decide to run or stop the pump regarding the conditions. This control logic maximizes the efficiency of the solar energy collected per m2.

* Pipes and other connection units
These pieces used to connect the thermal solar system to the main line of the application area. Quality of these materials effects the quality of the result. Isolation is the key to have an efficient system.


Is there enough sunlight in Morocco?
Yes, even more than expected. Nearly all cities of Morocco like Casablanca, Agadir, Marakhesh, Fes, Tangier, Mohammedia, Beni Mellal, Ben Slimane etc. gets enough sun to provide hot water even in coldest winter days. But to get hot water in winter sun is not enough by itself. Also the solar system that you use must to be efficient enough. In this balance, good quality systems always make you earn more.

Who installs the solar thermal system?
Installation and set up of a solar thermal system has to be executed by trained installers. Efsun Energy supports installations with experienced technicians and even engineers needed in case of application.

Is my home / company suitable for thermal solar energy?
If you are using hot water, definitely yes.
Solar systems are not products you pay extra for comfort or other secondary needs. Nearly all solar systems and especially the thermal solar systems pays its investment back to you in a short while. The main aim is to provide free hot water without electricity / gas / fuel costs.

Can hail cause any damage to the collectors?
Hail resistance of EFSUN Selective collectors approved according to DIN / EN 12975-2 by ITW Germany. To achieve this certification, the collector also has to gain 525 kWh/m2 productivity.

What is the life expectancy of a collector?
The materials in the Efsun collectors have a life expectancy of more than 15 years. Our employees will give you further information to make lifecycle of the collectors longest as possible.

What kind of maintenance does a thermal solar installation require?
A solar thermal system does not require considerable maintenance. To have the longest lifecycle from your system, it is suggested to make annual checks and maintenances. Those checks cost reasonable prices. But, in the case of using highly calcaire loaded water, an annual maintenance for cleaning calcaire will be needed to keep performance and life in desirable levels.

What kind of fluid runs through a thermal solar system?
In a solar thermal systems heat transfer is realized with simple water, water with anti-freeze liquid or glycol. The technicians are deciding about the proper liquid after inspection. Wrong type of decision can cause faults even less than one year. That's why we perform a technical visit or pre-discussion before all installations.
